  • Ahmed Mekky is the Former Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Bridge International (GBI); additionally he is a co-founder and Board Member of GBI. Ahmed led the company in building the first-ever privately-owned and independently-operated submarine cable in the Gulf region, with onward connectivity to Europe, Africa and Asia.
  • Ahmed is a highly experienced telecom executive with strong technical and business qualifications and an impressive track record of 15 years of hands-on experience in strategic planning, business unit development, project and product management, and system engineering strategies. Indeed, he is considered a pioneer in the field of satellite communications having managed numerous projects across the region, including the evaluation process for the launching of a new satellite to serve the Middle East and the investment in a new satellite hub in the Gulf.
  • Prior to founding GBI, Ahmed worked on projects encompassing both telecom’s infrastructure and satellite communications. Ahmed has taken a leading role on a broad range of business opportunities including the acquisition of an existing telecom operator, investing in telecom ventures in Europe, investing in GSM licenses in Africa and acquiring a license for a country’s international gateway for voice and data.

  • Prof. Mustafa Elnainay received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in computer engineering from Alexandria University, in 2001 and 2005, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from Virginia Tech, in 2009. He is currently on leave and affiliated with the Faculty of Computer and Information Systems, Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
  • He is also a Professor of computer engineering with the Computer and Systems Engineering Department, Alexandria University, Egypt. His research interests include wireless and mobile networks, cognitive radio and cognitive networks, as well as software testing automation and optimization.
  • His focus is on the use of artificial intelligence to solve problems in different domains, including communications and networking, indoor localization, and software engineering. He has served as a Reviewer, TPC member, and TPC chair/track chair for various international journals and conferences.

  • He has been at James Madison University since August 2012 where he worked as an assistant professor in the Integrated Science and Technology Department from August 2012 until July 2018. Afterward, he was awarded tenure and promotion as an associate professor starting August 2018.
  • At James Madison University, he was the Telecommunications, Networking, and Security (TNS) Advisor for the students who wish to declare the TNS as their concentration. In the ISAT department, he teaches in the TNS sector (Computer Networking and Security Courses), the IKM sector (Computer Programming and Database Courses) and the Intelligence Analysis IA program. Also, I teach Computer Science (CS) courses (mainly the graduate program for the master degree).
  • For his research, he is interested in the issues surrounding Intelligent Transportation, Mobile Development, Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Network Security, Wireless Network Security, Internet of Things (IoT), Voice over IP (VoIP), Network Programming, and Cloud Computing.

  • Dr Yehia Elkhatib is a Reader (Associate Professor) at the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow, UK, and is a visiting professor at École de Technologie Supérieure, Montreal.
  • His work revolves mainly around using data-driven approaches to improve the performance and programmability of distributed systems. This involves work on optimized deployment on cloud and edge resources, post-deployment system composition, and intent-driven network architectures.
